INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE .308 DET MAG SYSTEM

First make sure the gun is unloaded. Remove the guard screws and disassemble the barreled action from the stock. Remove the trigger guard assembly and inner magazine box from stock. Replace these items with the DetMag system, reinsert front and rear guard screws and tighten. After installation, check to make sure the top of the Det Mag housing is not sitting against the bottom of the receiver. There should be aproximately .015" clearance between the top of the Det Mag assembly and the bottom of the receiver. If there is no clearance, it may be necessesary to install a shim between the bottom metal assembly and the stock. The pillar lengths should be .735" for the front and 1.250" at the rear.
After the system is installed, if the magazines are hanging up and not wanting to fall free, check to make sure that the Det Mag assembly is not sitting at an angle in the stock. This condition is normally corrected by just shimming in the front or rear.
On some after market receivers, it may be necessary to machine the center guard screw island to .300" wide. This will allow the magazines to be fully inserted into the unit.

Due to tolerance and design changes over the years, it may take slight modifications to install the unit properly. Though this system was designed as a true drop in, unfortunately we don't live in a perfect world.
